Mets tender contracts to all unsigned players

BaronThe Mets tendered contracts to all of their unsigned players on the 40-man roster ahead of Wednesday’s midnight deadline, the team announced.

As such, all of their arbitration-eligible players – Ruben Tejada, Jenrry Mejia, Carlos TorresJeurys Familia, Josh Edgin, Matt Harvey, Addison Reed, and Lucas Duda – will return next season unless they are traded, as well as their unsigned players who are not eligible for arbitration earning the league minimum.

The eight players eligible for arbitration could earn between $25-30 million between them. They will also have to take into account contractural raises to Juan LagaresJon Niese, and Michael Cuddyer, who will earn a combined $24 million in 2016, the $36 million which is owed to both David Wright and Curtis Granderson next season.

The Mets are currently committed to spend $92-95 million to players currently under contract or control in 2016.
