Rich MacLeodAfter winning the National League Rookie of the Year award last season, Mets pitcher Jacob deGrom has another accolade to add to his mantle.

While he wasn’t even nominated for a Gold Glove Award this season, it was announced on Wednesday night that deGrom has taken home the Wilson Defensive Player of the Year Award at pitcher.

The Wilson Defensive Player of the Year Awards recognize the best defensive player at each position regardless of league, best defensive team and best overall defensive player. Winners since 2012 are determined using a formula that combines traditional defensive stats with advanced metrics, as well as the data logged by baseball experts working for the scouting service Inside Edge.
