Juan Uribe hit and took ground balls, to do more work on Saturday
Juan Uribe has been working to return from a chest contusion he sustained in a game against the Yankees in mid-September, but has remained idle through the first two rounds of the playoffs.
But on Friday at Citi Field, Uribe participated in baseball activities, including hitting, taking ground balls and some light throwing on the field during the club’s informal workout.
But Terry Collins remains doubtful Uribe will be added to the World Series roster, citing the fact Uribe has been idle for a month and there isn’t enough time for him to go get at-bats elsewhere ahead of the World Series.
But the Mets will wait until they have to submit the World Series roster to the league on Tuesday before making a final decision on Uribe.
Collins also said Uribe’s status could be determined based on their opponent.
Collins said Uribe will workout again on Saturday and Sunday at Citi Field.
