Jacob deGrom could still start Tuesday in Game 4 on short rest
On Saturday, Terry Collins said due to Jacob deGrom’s heavy workload in game three of the Division Series, it was unlikely the right-hander would be brought back on three-days rest to pitch in game four on Tuesday night at Citi Field.
Instead, Collins said on Sunday Steven Matz would start on Tuesday, followed by deGrom in a potential game five in Los Angeles on Thursday with five-days rest.
But on Monday, Collins altered his stance, saying it was now possible deGrom could pitch on Tuesday night.
However, deGrom would only start game four if the Mets lose game three on Monday night.
DeGrom has never pitched on three-days rest in his career.
