Sandy Alderson doubts Juan Uribe will be on the NLDS roster

Juan Uribe 1 slice

BaronJuan Uribe has remained in New York resting and rehabbing from the chest contusion he sustained on September 20 against the Yankees and re-aggravated five days later against the Reds.

But not much has changed in Uribe’s condition, according to the team, and Sandy Alderson is not optimistic Uribe will travel with the team to Los Angeles ahead of game one of the Division Series on Friday.

Alderson said on Tuesday Uribe was unlikely to go with the team to Los Angeles, suggesting he will not be on the Division Series roster.

As such, it seems like Kirk Nieuwenhuis has a good chance to make the Division Series roster over Uribe and Eric Young Jr., who is in Port St. Lucie playing in the Instructional League in the event he is needed as an injury replacement.

But Alderson did not rule out Uribe’s availability for the NLCS or World Series if the Mets advance beyond the first round.
