Mets announce Jacob deGrom will start game one of the NLDS
In what is no surprise at this point, Terry Collins announced on Saturday night Jacob deGrom will in fact start game one of the Division Series against the Dodgers next Friday night.
DeGrom will make that start on regular rest, as he will start in Sunday’s season finale against the Nationals.
Right now, Noah Syndergaard is in-line to pitch game two of the Division Series next Saturday, followed by Matt Harvey in game three and one of Steven Matz, Bartolo Colon or Jon Niese in game four.
Collins did not say whether or not the Mets would consider bringing deGrom back on short rest to pitch game four if Matz is unavailable in the Division Series, although the club is reportedly considering this scenario if the Mets are down 2-1 heading into game four.
Syndergaard would be in-line to pitch in a do-or-die game five on regular rest.
