Juan Uribe could miss the Division Series with chest injury
The prognosis on Juan Uribe is not exactly what the Mets were hoping for on Saturday afternoon.
Terry Collins said Uribe – who re-injured his chest on a check swing on Friday night – visited with doctors late Friday night, and the prognosis was, “not favorable.”
Collins said it’s possible Uribe could miss some or the entire Division Series with the injury.
Uribe underwent x-rays on Friday night, and they were negative. He originally injured his chest last Sunday night against the Yankees diving after a groundball.
Not having Uribe would be an underrated loss for the club in the postseason, given his overall skill set on both sides of the ball, his playoff resume and his knack for coming up with big hits.
The Division Series begins in 13 days – the Mets are hoping that’s enough time to get him healthy enough to be the contributor he can be during that time of year.
