Carlos Torres to test injured calf on Monday in New York
Carlos Torres has not pitched since last Monday in Washington after straining his calf in the sixth inning.
Terry Collins expected Torres to miss a good amount of time with the injury, but the right-hander will test his injured calf with a throwing session at Citi Field on Monday, according to Kristie Ackert of the Daily News.
There is still no timetable for Torres to return. The Mets purchased RHP Tim Stauffer’s contract from Triple-A Las Vegas following Torres’ injury, although he has not yet appeared in a game for the Mets.
Since the active roster has expanded to 40 players, there is no need to disable Torres. Instead, the Mets will continue to hope Torres’ calf will heal at some point down the stretch of the season.
