Lucas Duda plays seven innings at first base in first rehab game
Lucas Duda has been sidelined with a herniated disc in his thoracic spine for the better part of three weeks, but on Saturday he took a successful first step towards returning from the disabled list.
Duda began a major league rehab assignment on Saturday, and went 2-for-3 with the Double-A Binghamton Mets at NYSEG Stadium against Altoona, and played seven innings at first base.
Assistant GM John Ricco said it was unlikely Duda would return for their series opener against the Nationals on Monday, but could be activated sometime during their three-game series against Washington.
He is eligible to be activated from the disabled list on Sunday.
