Mets announce first wave of September call-ups
The Mets announced late on Sunday their first wave of September 1 call-ups.
Eric Campbell, Kevin Plawecki, Eric Young Jr., and Kirk Nieuwenhuis were all notified after Las Vegas’ game in Round Rock, Texas they will be promoted to the Mets on Tuesday when rosters expand to 40 players.
Canpbell has hit .302/.429/.413 with a home run and five RBI in 18 games since being sent down.
Young was reacquired by the Mets from the Braves last week. He appeared in 35 major league games with the Braves earlier this season, hitting .169/.229/.273 with three stolen bases. He’s hit .249/.351/.315 with 26 stolen bases between Triple-A Gwinnett and Triple-A Las Vegas in 2015.
Plawecki has played in 13 games for Las Vegad since being sent down, hitting .229/.288/.354 with one home run and three RBI in 52 plate appearances.
Nieuwenhuis has been on the major league disabled list since early August with a pinched nerve in his upper back. He’s hit .327/.397/.564 with two home runs and 11 RBI in 14 games during his rehab assignment.
The Mets did not announce any additional roster moves.
