David Wright completes rehab assignment, to join Mets Monday
The main goal for David Wright was to get through his rehab assignment without suffering any setbacks in his back.
He has successfully navigated his assignment, going 0-for-4 with an RBI groundout in the sixth inning for Single-St. Lucie on Saturday night against the Palm Beach Cardinals in Jupiter.
Wright will now travel to Philadelphia and is expected to be activated in time for the Mets series opener against the Phillies on Monday night at Citizens Bank Park.
Terry Collins said earlier this week Wright will not be an everyday player until his back is 100 percent.
It’s possible that won’t be until 2016, the manager said.
Wright went 9-for-28 during his assignment with St. Lucie, all of which were singles.
He has been on the disabled list since April 15, having played in only eight games in 2015.
