Mets aiming for David Wright to return in Philadelphia next week
After having two days off in Port St. Lucie, David Wright will resume his rehab assignment with Single-A St. Lucie on Tuesday evening at Tradition Field.
According to Adam Rubin of ESPN New York, the team is now eying next week when the Mets are in Philadelphia as a possible timeframe for Wright to be activated from the disabled list.
Wright is not expected to be transferred to any other affiliate at any point during the remainder of his rehab. He will stay in Florida with Single-A St. Lucie, presumably to stay under the watchful eyes of rehab coordinator Jon Debus.
It’s still unclear how much Wright will be able to play when he does return, and what kind of player he will be for that matter either.
Wright is on the 60-day disabled list, and has been sidelined since April 15. When the Mets activate Wright, they will have to accommodate him both on the active and 40-man rosters.
