Lucas Duda out again, not expecting to start until at least Tuesday
Lucas Duda is out of the lineup for a fifth straight game due to a lumbar strain in his lower back.
Duda said on Saturday he is available to pinch hit the rest of the weekend, but does not expect to start until Tuesday against the Orioles in Baltimore, at the earliest.
On Friday, Terry Collins said he didn’t believe Duda would need to go on the disabled list, as the rest this weekend plus Monday’s off-day should be enough for him to be available to start on Tuesday.
In the meantime, the Mets are playing short-handed once again, with only 24 players guaranteed to be available against the Pirates this weekend.
If Duda were to be placed on the disabled list, that stint could be retroactive to the day after the last game he appeared in, which is August 11.
