Michael Conforto can add yet another award to his ledger as he continues to impress within the Mets organization.

The 22-year-old outfielder has earned the Eastern League Player of the Week award for July 13-19.

Conforto went 7-for-16, with a double, triple, two home runs and three RBI with three runs scored for the B-Mets last week. He led all Eastern League players in slugging percentage (1.000) and OPS (1.500), last week and tied for the lead in home runs, extra-base hits and triples.

Conforto was a two-time player of the week winner in the Florida State League before being promoted to Double-A Binghamton.

Since his promotion to the B-Mets, Conforto has hit .325/.404/.529 with five home runs and 24 RBI in 178 plate appearances over 41 games. He has combined to hit .302/.375/.493 with 12 home runs and 52 RBI in 87 games between Single-A St. Lucie and Double-A Binghamton.

He also went 2-for-2 with an assist in the All-Star Futures Game on July 12 at Great American Ballpark.

  1. Perhaps the most mystifying piece of this season is why it doesn’t seem like conforto has a chance at going to the big leagues? I mean they can’t seriously be trying to hold another year of control on him by not letting him debut until July of 16 right? Let the kid get big league time under his belt and most likely be a top 2 hitter for us.

  2. Too funny, this kid is tearing it up and we dont have anyone who can hit the broad side of a barn. I have been against bringing up prospects early (e.g., Herrera), but given that Conforto is older/more experienced I would give him a shot. Also, AAA in LV is a waste anyway as all of the Mets prospects hit over .300 there so AA track record and experience works.

  3. Bring him up. Bring him up. No time like the present. Start LF and bat fourth behind Duda. Murph can handle the pitch around of the Dude on deck..Let Conforto play until it is determined that Cuddyer is going on the DL or not.. platoon him with Duda at first. That makes harmless sense despite losing a little defense at 1B.
