Travis d’Arnaud is progressing in Port St. Lucie

Travis d'Arnaud 1 slice

Rich MacLeodWhile his return from his current stint on the disabled list isn’t imminent, Travis d’Arnaud is progressing towards rehab games, per ESPN’s Adam Rubin.

Sidelined since June 20th with a sprained left elbow, the oft-injured Mets catcher has been making strides, working out at the team’s Port St. Lucie complex, Rubin reports.

D’Arnaud, 26, is hitting .296/.338/.535 with three doubles, four home runs, 17 RBI and an .873 OPS in 19 games with the Mets this season. This is d’Arnaud’s second time on the disabled list this year, after spending nearly two months on the DL earlier this season with a fractured right finger after being hit in the hand by a pitch in late April.

In his brief time spent with the team this season, d’Arnaud really looked as if he was hitting his stride at the plate and proved to be one of the Mets most productive hitters. For a team that has struggled mightily to hit and drive in runs all season, the addition of d’Arnaud will make a positive impact.

Whether or not he can stay on the field, however, is another question altogether…
