Matt Reynolds has garnered a lot of attention over the course of the 2015 season, primarily because of the parent club’s issues on the middle infield during the first half.

But even if the Mets wanted to turn to Reynolds in the near-term, they now need to wait no matter what.

Reynolds was placed on the seven-day disabled list by the Las Vegas 51s on Wednesday with a right elbow strain.

He was day-to-day with this injury in late June and missed four days as a result. He was then back to full-time duties before being limited to pinch hitting duties the last couple of nights. The club finally decided to disable him today to allow this thing to heal up. I’ve heard this injury is deemed as minor, so hopefully he’s back in short order.

If the Mets find themselves in need of a middle infielder at Triple-A, they may now have to turn to someone like Wilfredo Tovar, who remains on the 40-man roster.
