Bobby Parnell was shutdown late last week after experiencing soreness in his right forearm during his last rehab outing with the St. Lucie Mets.

Parnell – who is in Miami with the Mets – spoke with reporters and said his forearm is feeling better, and hopes to resume throwing on Thursday, according to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com.

He said he’s hopeful this forearm issue was a minor setback and does not alter his timetable for his return.

Parnell has made three rehab appearances for Single-A St. Lucie, allowing three runs with three walks and two strikeouts in 2 2/3 innings. His fastball velocity has improved during his assignment, as he was recently clocked between 91-93 mph.

Parnell believes his velocity will begin to improve once he resumes throwing.

He had said during camp he hoped to return by mid-April, but it was always more realistic he would return in May. However, there is now no timetable for his return.

Parnell underwent Tommy John Surgery last April – he did not pitch in 2014.
