The Mets close out their exhibition schedule with a matinee against the Rangers on Saturday at Globe Life Park at Arlington. Here’s what I am looking for in the finale, which starts at 2:05 PM ET….
Daniel Muno’s last stand.
Muno has had a solid spring and shown he can be a valuable utility infielder with speed, a little power, and a penchant for getting on-base. He will get one more start today before heading to Triple-A Las Vegas to join a pretty stacked 51s club.
He may not be with the Mets on Monday, but I’m willing to bet his big league debut will come sooner rather than later…
Dillon Gee’s homecoming.
Gee has purchased a suite for family and friends as he makes his final spring start in his hometown. He’s been excellent this spring and has done a lot in a very short period of time to get ready. While still not official, it’s clear his first start of the year will come Friday in Atlanta, barring a disastrous performance and a quick change in the team’s thinking this afternoon.
Let’s just get it over with, ok?
The Rangers need to catch a flight to Oakland, the Mets need to catch a flight to Washington. So, as was the case on Thursday afternoon, I expect a quick game, a lot of aggressive at-bats, and strikes from both pitching staffs.
This afternoon’s game will not be televised locally and will not be aired on local radio, but can be seen as part of MLB.TV’s free preview with no blackouts in the New York market.
