Sandy Alderson scrumThis morning at Tradition Field, Sandy Alderson spoke with reporters and said the following:

  • Sandy has not had any significant trade talks recently.
  • If the trade market picks up, it will likely be towards the end of Spring Training.
  • Terry Collins will ultimately decide who starts both the season and the home opener as well as the opening rotation in general.
  • The fact Matt Harvey did not pitch in 2014 will and should factor into who starts the season and home opener.
  • Regarding Wilmer Flores, they’re past the evaluation process, and he is a, “central player” on the 25-man roster.
  • Mets players were very receptive to the idea of having Billy Bean, MLB’s ambassador for inclusion, in uniform during Spring Training.
  • Alderson asked Bean if he would consider playing in a Grapefruit League game. Bean declined the invitation.
