Thank you, and to new beginnings…

M BaronFirst off, I want to thank everyone for the well wishes and support over the last couple of weeks. Six years ago when I started writing for, I never could’ve imagined anyone would actually care about my opinion on the Mets, my story as a fan, and my journey to this point. I never intended to gain anything from the experience except pure enjoyment and personal fulfillment (and a nice photographic screen saver for my computer). That all of you feel the way you do is incredibly humbling, and I don’t even know how to repay each and every one of you for your support.

Let's Go MetsI also want to thank Matthew Cerrone and everyone both at SNY and the Mets for everything they’ve done for me over the last six years. I have learned so much about digital content, blogging, social media, branding and marketing, and being a member of the media from them. Matt in particular deserves the bulk of this credit, but I also want to thank SNY’s Andrew Vazzano, Ted Berg, Jeff Goldman, Matt Dunn and Fred Harner, the Mets David Newman, Shannon Forde, Jay Horwitz, Danielle Parillo, Ethan Wilson, Jon Kerber and countless more with the club for being patient with and teaching me, a career IT guy.

Most of all, I want to thank my wife, Natalie, who has been very patient and understanding during this journey. She’s made many personal sacrifices to ensure my ability to write to you everyday on MetsBlog, present content from ballparks all around the country, and interact with you on a daily basis. Without her and her motivation, patience, inspiration and guidance, I don’t believe this ecosystem exists.

With that, I am pleased to announce the launch of a new blog in conjunction with MLB Advanced Media, called, “Just Mets.”

I’ll admit, I’m a little nervous.

You can expect a lot of what you’ve grown accustomed to from me with MetsBlog from a blogging perspective: daily news and opinion, personal pieces, game discussions, performance analysis, photos, Q&A’s and so on. Those combined with MLBAM’s virtually unlimited supply of baseball resources should create a unique reading and viewing experience. I have only scratched the surface of those capabilities, yet I am already excited for what I hope will be a regular visit to this site from you.

I also want to take this opportunity to introduce Rich MacLeod as a writer for Just Mets. He recently joined MLB Advanced Media as a producer. He filmed and produced this fantastic video of the Queens Baseball Convention in January, has produced several other short films for, worked as a producer/editor for MSG and has contributed to Gang Green Nation for the the last two seasons. I look forward to reading Rich’s work here and his future contributions to MLB Advanced Media.

Meanwhile, I am still working out a lot of technical details regarding post types, voices, and style for the site, so it’s going to be a work in progress for the foreseeable future. But, it’s go time, and I am excited you all are coming along for the ride with me as we embark on what should be the most exciting and interesting season for the Mets in a long, long time.

Feel free to look around and email me with any questions, comments or suggestions. I encourage you to follow this site on Twitter and on Facebook as well.

Once again, thank you all. You’re too kind.

Let’s Go Mets!
