Lucas Duda sat for the second consecutive game on Wednesday night with stiffness in his back.
Duda said before Wednesday’s game he felt better and he did take batting practice before the Mets 3-0 win over the Rockies.
On Wednesday, manager Terry Collins sounded hopeful Duda would be available Thursday afternoon, although wasn’t sure if Duda would be in the starting lineup.
However, Duda remains unavailable for a third straight game Thursday as his back still doesn’t feel good enough to play.
Collins described his level of concern as, “defcon 5,” although he remains hopeful Duda will not have to go on the disabled list.
However, if Duda is still unable to play on Friday against the Pirates, the club will soon have to consider putting the first baseman on the disabled list.
