Mets RockiesHere’s what I’m looking for from the Mets tonight:

Did the bats wake up?

The Mets didn’t exactly light up the scoreboard on Monday night in their latest come-from-behind win, but they produced just enough offense to come away with an important winning to avoid a losing streak.

It would be nice if the Mets could drub the opposition on a regular basis, but as I’ve said for months now, they need only enough offense to overcome even the smallest of deficits and win pitchers duels when necessary. They have the tools right now, and they showed on Monday they can overcome adversity and find ways to win with those tools.

Still, it’s not going to be so simple all the time. It’s important the Mets find a way to spread their offense out again and be a little more consistent than they’ve been over the last three or four days.

It’s #HarveyDay.

Harvey has really gotten into a nice rhythm lately, and it’s possible the regular routine pitching on normal rest has helped him find this groove. His four starts since the All-Star break have come on regular rest or no more than five days off, and he has a 1.57 ERA in those starts while holding the opposition to a .165 average against him.

All things considered, he has had a spectacular recovery season in 2015, and it’s getting better with each passing start. Hopefully he has broken through the final barrier in the recovery process from Tommy John Surgery. If he has, the league will have to watch out from this point forward…

Continue to take advantage.

Once again, the Mets are home and playing a softer portion of their schedule. They have a difficult challenge upcoming against the Pirates this weekend, so it’s important the Mets continue to charge forward and win this series from the Rockies, who are not in their class right now.

It can never be assumed, and this group of Mets don’t appear to be presumptuous in any of these games. But the Mets need to charge forward and find a way to get the edge in this series. They know that too.
