As expected, the Mets activated OF Michael Cuddyer from the disabled list on Monday afternoon.
Cuddyer had been on the disabled list since July 24 with a bone bruise in his left knee.
To make room on the active roster for Cuddyer, the Mets optioned Eric Campbell to Triple-A Las Vegas.
On Sunday in St. Petersburg, Sandy Alderson said the roster move would be based on the ability to provide Terry Collins with the 25 best possible players on a daily basis.
Keeping Michael Conforto here over Campbell clearly backs that up.
Campbell had definitely been better as of late, producing three pinch hits in his last four at-bats. But his defense is sub-par, he has generally been unproductive despite the recent uptick, and adding Cuddyer back – in whatever role he is going to be in – provides Collins with a better alternative from the right side.
One response to “Mets activate Michael Cuddyer from the disabled list, option Eric Campbell to Las Vegas”
That’s the fair/smart decision for now.
