Curtis Granderson took a foul ball off of his foot in the ninth inning, and appeared hobbled running to first when he grounded out for the second out of the inning.
Granderson said afterwards his foot was, “sore,” although he did not require x-rays. His availability for Sunday’s rubber game against the Rays will be determined prior to the game, although he believed he should be fine.
“We just iced it and a cold tub like I normally do, and hopefully I’ll be good to go tomorrow,” Granderson said. “It just hit in a rough spot. It didn’t hit any padding on the shoe or anything like that. But it should be good to go.”
Granderson hit two solo home runs on Saturday night, including his sixth leadoff homer of the season, marking the third time in 2015 he’s hit two home runs in a game.
“Great way to start the game,” Granderson said. “Especially against one of those guys that doesn’t tend to give up a lot of runs.”
Unfortunately for the Mets, his homers served as the highlight for the Mets in their 5-4 loss to Tampa Bay.
