Mets vs MarlinsHere’s what I’m looking for from the Mets tonight:

Sweep dreams.

Why let up now, especially against a team the Mets should beat?

They have a sweep setup beautifully with one of their aces on the mound, and all of the momentum in the world behind them to leave South Florida on happy terms against National League East rival. They’re having fun, controlling the tempo of these games, and establishing themselves as one of the most feared opponents in the National League right now. So there’s no reason to expect anything different heading into Thursday’s off-day.

Should the Mets sweep this series, it will be the first time they’ve swept the Marlins in Miami since August 31-September 2, 2012.

A challenge for Matt Harvey.

If history is any indication, this may not be the easiest of games for Matt Harvey. He has a 4.14 ERA in six career starts against the Marlins, and a 4.50 ERA in three starts in Marlins Park. They seem to have an idea against him, most recently on Mat 29 at Citi Field when he allowed four runs in eight innings against Miami. This is a lineup without Giancarlo Stanton however, so perhaps Harvey can take advantage of that break.

More runs!

The Mets have been tearing the cover off the ball over the last three games. It came a little late on Tuesday, but better late than never, of course. Their lineup is deeper, can beat the opposition in multiple ways, and they’re a very confident group right now, capable of scoring runs in bunches. They’ve shown resiliency and character in the way they’ve been able to bunch runs together lately, and that inspired play has been a welcome sight.
