Historical notes on Lucas Duda’s home run pace

Duda

Lucas Duda hit his ninth home run in his last eight games with a third inning blast on Sunday, capping a five-run frame and sending the Mets on their way to a 5-2 win over the Nationals.

Here are some notes on Duda’s torrid home run pace:

  • Elias: The only other Mets player in history to hit seven home runs in a Monday-Sunday, week-long stretch was Frank Thomas (July 30-August 5, 1962).
  • Elias: Duda became one of three players in the last 10 years to have hit nine home runs in an eight-game stretch. The others are Jason Bay (2006) and Josh Hamilton (2012).
  • Elias: He now has nine home runs in his last eight games dating to July 25, the most for any Met in an eight-game span.
  • Duda now has nine home runs since the All-Star break, the most for any player in the major leagues.
  • 18 of Duda’s 21 home runs this season have been hit at Citi Field.
  • It was the 95th career home run as a Met for Duda, moving him into a tie for 13th place in club history with Bobby Bonilla.
