Travis d’Arnaud will catch the next two days in Binghamton, could return this weekend

BaronTravis d’Arnaud has appeared in three rehab games with Double-A Binghamton, catching a total of 12 innings and serving as the team’s designated hitter in the other.

On Tuesday, Terry Collins said d’Arnaud will catch today and tomorrow for the B-Mets, at which point the club could activate the catcher in time for the first game of their three-game series against the Nationals on Friday.

Collins has said d’Arnaud would need 20-25 at-bats before being activated. He is 4-for-11 during his assignment with Binghamton.

D’Arnaud has been on the 15-day disabled list with a sprained left elbow. He has played in 19 games for the Mets this season.


Update, 9:57 PM: d’Arnaud went 1-for-4 with a run scored on Tuesday night, catching all nine innings of the B-Mets 3-0 shutout of the New Britain Rock Cats.
