Three different Mets minor leaguers were tabbed as Players of the Week as Matt Bowman, Seth Lugo and John Mora all earned the nods.
Bowman, 24, earned the PCL Pitcher of the Week award after throwing the first complete-game shutout of his career against the Fresno Grizzlies this past Tuesday at Cashman Field. The young right-hander limited Fresno to just two singles and three walks in his 114-pitch shutout effort. So far this season, Bowman is 7-10 with a 5.32 ERA in 20 starts for Triple-A Las Vegas.
Lugo, 25, was recognized as the Eastern League Pitcher of the Week, going 2-0 in a pair of starts, allowing one run while striking out 16 batters over 14 innings. After allowing a solo home run in the 1st inning of his start against the New Britain Rock Cats on July 20th, Lugo pitched shutout baseball over his next 13 consecutive innings, spanning two starts. In his last four starts, Lugo is 4-0 with a 0.36 ERA and 26 strikeouts in 25 innings pitched in Double-A Binghamton.
Mora, 22, was named the SAL Player of the Week after going 12-for-23 (.522) at the plate with four doubles, a triple, a home run and eight RBI from July 20-26.
