The Mets will look to get on-track in their four-game series against the Dodgers on Saturday night at 7:10 PM at Citi Field.
Here is tonight’s starting lineup for New York:
Curtis Granderson – RF
Ruben Tejada – SS
Daniel Murphy – 3B
Kelly Johnson – 2B
Lucas Duda – 1B
Michael Conforto – LF
Kirk Nieuwenhuis – CF
Kevin Plawecki – C
Matt Harvey – RHP
Here is tonight’s pitching matchup:
Matt Harvey (8-7, 3.19 ERA)will start for the Mets.
Zach Lee (MLB debut) will start for the Dodgers.
Here’s what I am looking for from the Mets tonight.
Reinforcements are here.
Kelly Johnson is the cleanup hitter for the Mets tonight, and there’s probably no better candidate to hit in the middle of the lineup for the Mets either. Juan Uribe is available off the bench, too.
Things look and seem a lot better, don’t they?
They are only two guys, however. Hopefully this catapults them and gives their offense a much needed facelift and energy boost, as they’ve scored just 21 runs in eight games since the All-Star break, seven of which came in one of those games. Still, the likes of Daniel Murphy, and Lucas Duda (among others) have to hit. Hopefully that begins today.
It’s #HarveyDay.
He’s going on regular rest for the first time in a while, so it will be worth watching whether or not he benefits from the normalized routine. His sharpness has been lacking lately, especially early in his starts, and it has cost him and the team. But if it was due to the infrequent number of starts, perhaps pitching on regular rest today will result in a smoother ride for the Mets co-ace.
Yes, he’s recovering from Tommy John Surgery and he’s going through a lot of ups and downs as a result. The Mets need to hope tonight marks one of those upswings for the start right-hander.
Gotta win.
Reinforcements and a good effort from Harvey are nice provided the team wins, and right now the club is dragging their heals through a three-game losing streak. Fortunately, they haven’t lost any ground in the division (except for Wednesday), but they’re starting to lose traction in the Wild Card race. They must turn it around starting tonight, especially since the front office has begun to supplement the roster with big league talent.
