Travis d’Arnaud joins the B-Mets, to begin rehab assignment

Travis d'Arnaud 1 slice

BaronTravis d’Arnaud was set to begin a minor league rehab assignment with Single-A St. Lucie on Thursday, but two consecutive rainouts have postponed the start of that assignment.

As such, the Mets have transferred d’Arnaud to Double-A Binghamton so the catcher can start working his way back with no more interruptions.

Terry Collins said earlier this week he expects d’Arnaud will need 20-25 minor league at-bats before rejoining the Mets.

That puts him on track to be activated late next week against the Nationals.

D’Arnaud has been on the disabled list since June 20 after he hyperextended his elbow colliding with AJ Pierzynski in Atlanta. He has played in 19 games for the Mets in 2015.
