Travis d’Arnaud has had a trying season, having played in only 19 games for the Mets due to a couple of hard luck injuries.
But he has begun the road back to the big leagues again, beginning a rehab assignment with the Double-A Binghamton Mets against the Trenton Thunder in Trenton on Saturday, catching five innings, picking a runner of, and singling in three at-bats.
Terry Collins has said d’Arnaud will need 20-25 at-bats before returning to the Mets. Barring any setbacks, he should be back late next week.
D’Arnaud has been on the 15-days disabled list since June 20 with a hyper-extended elbow.
