Mets vs DodgersHere are two keys to tonight’s game for the Mets:

The one with Michael Conforto.

It’s time. The Mets finally made a move on July 24th, and while it wasn’t making a trade for an outfielder, it is a bat that has gotten Mets fans excited: 22-year-old outfield prospect Michael Conforto.

Selected with the 10th overall pick in last year’s draft, started this season at Single-A, moved up to Double-A and is now in the major leagues. A pretty incredible rise in the last year.

He’s batting 7th tonight, so he won’t be asked to do much, but just his presence in the lineup will be an improvement for this team that has been so desperate for offense this season.

The Mets insist he’s not the savior, and he isn’t, but this is something that’s got me and other Mets fans excited. There hasn’t been a lot of that when it comes to a hitter in this franchise for a long time.
