The Mets have acquired some minor league infield depth, signing Jonathan Gálvez to a minor league contract and assigning him to the B-Mets.
Galvez, 24, spent the first part of the 2015 season with Triple-A Scranton-Wilkes Barre in the Yankees organization. He hit .237/.323/.302 in 40 games before being cut loose.
Gálvez has spent his entire eight-year career in the minor leagues in both the Padres and Yankees organizations. He is a career .278/.364/.420 hitter with 17 home runs and 54 RBI in 698 minor league games.
