The Mets will be adding fresh body to the roster ahead of Monday night’s game against the Nationals.
The club has recalled Anthony Recker from Triple-A Las Vegas, and he will presumably catch tomorrow night’s series opener against the Nationals in Washington after Kevin Plawecki caught the entire 18-inning game on Sunday.
Recker was hitting .293/.398/.640 with seven home runs and 19 RBI in 21 games with Triple-A Las Vegas after being demoted on June 17.
To make room for Recker on the roster, the Mets optioned Johnny Monell to Triple-A Las Vegas.
Monell had hit .250/.323/.286 after being recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas on June 23. Overall, he has hit .182/.250/.227 in 48 plate appearances over 23 games for the Mets this season.
