Erik Goeddel had posted a 1.96 ERA through June 11 despite pitching with significant pain in his elbow through much of the season.
But it was at that point the pain became intolerable, and Goeddel was placed on the 15-day disabled list while the team and doctors determined how to deal with what was described as a, “dirty” MRI at that time.
It seems rest and rehabilitation at the team’s minor league complex in Port St. Lucie has been the best remedy for Goeddel, as he has progressed to pitching off a mound.
It’s not clear when Goeddel might begin a minor rehab assignment.
