The Binghamton Mets announced several notable roster moves early Wednesday morning.
OF Eudy Pina, INF Dustin Lawley, and INF Aderlin Rodriguez have all been released, the club said in a statement.
Lawley, 26, was the club’s 19th round selection in the 2011 first-year player draft. He has always hit for power in his minor league career but last lacked consistency overall. He struggled in 2015, hitting just .212/.256/.367 with six home runs and 24 RBI in 66 games. He reached as high as Triple-A Las Vegas last year. He has hit 76 home runs in 503 games over five seasons in the Mets minor leagues.
Like Lawley, Rodriguez, 23, has always had promise in the power department, but his big swing, high strikeout rates and inability to adjust has stymied his development in the Mets minor league system. He hit .250/.286/.458 with ten home runs and 33 RBI in 62 games for the B-Mets in 2015. He has hit 81 home runs in 555 minor league games over seven seasons.
