On Tuesday night, Major League Baseball unveiled the results of the, “Franchise Four” contest, a fan vote to determine each franchise’s four greatest players.
Keith Hernandez, Mike Piazza, Tom Seaver and David Wright were elected by fans as the Mets’, “Franchise Four.”
Runner-ups for the Mets were Dwight Gooden, Gary Carter, Darryl Strawberry and John Franco.
The four greatest living players of all time were Sandy Koufax, Willie Mays, Johnny Bench, and Hank Aaron. They were elected by Major League Baseball’s official historian John Thorn, representatives from the Elias Sports Bureau, MLB.com, MLB Network and the Baseball Writers’ Association of America.

Piazza and Seaver were a lock…I thought that Carter may have gotten pushed over the top on sentiment, and I love DW, but suspect the coefficient there was also based on sentiment…”…what if we never see him in a baseball uniform again” kinda thing. That would be sad…miss you, Captain😥❗️
