Rafael Montero has been sidelined for 2 1/2 months with a right rotator cuff strain in his right shoulder.
He has been attempting to work his way back at the team’s minor league complex in Port St. Lucie only to be slowed by continued discomfort in his shoulder during the rehab process.
But on Tuesday morning, Montero finally made a rehab appearance with the GCL Mets against the GCL Cardinals in Port St. Lucie. He started for the Mets and allowed a hit in a scoreless first inning and was lifted for a reliever in the second inning.
Montero has been on the major league disabled list since April 29. He was optioned following his start against the Marlins on April 28, but due to the injury being sustained in the big leagues, the option was rescinded. He has been accumulating major league service time while on the disabled list.

Fine, but Why lifted in the 2nd?

Hmmm, why at such a low level in the system? And more importantly, if he started the game one wouldn’t think they would have planned to lift him after one inning. You’d bring him in relieft then, no?
