Jacob deGrom dominates in All-Star Game appearance

All-Star Game Baseball

Rich MacLeodWow.

Jacob deGrom made his first career All-Star appearance in Cincinnati on Tuesday night for the National League and absolutely dominated in an inning of work. Entering the game in the 6th, deGrom faced Steven VogtJason Kipnis and Jose Iglesias–not one of them even put a ball in play.

DeGrom dominated Vogt, striking him out on three fastballs, reaching 98 MPH on the third pitch to register the K. After striking out Kipnis on four pitches, deGrom then made quick work of Iglesias, striking him out on three pitches as well, finishing him off with a nasty breaking ball in the dirt.

DeGrom certainly got the attention of many–including the FOX announcers–in his one inning of work, as he nearly pitched an immaculate inning in an All-Star Game. Overall, deGrom threw 10 pitches (nine strikes) and struck out three–none of them even came close, honestly.

“He’s got star quality,” Harold Reynolds said after deGrom’s dominant inning.

It was absolutely filth by deGrom on a big stage tonight and something that clearly has got Mets fans and baseball fans in general buzzing. Performances like this remind you of why he’s not only an All-Star, but also the Mets ace.

The only other Mets pitchers besides deGrom to strike out the side in an All-Star Game were Tom Seaver in 1968, Tug McGraw in 1972, Dwight Gooden in 1984 and Sid Fernandez in 1986.

He’s the first pitcher in All-Star Game history to strike out the side on 10 pitches or less.

  1. In this way it’ll not cause harm to one’s tree’s bark, but can instead stop
it is water supply, which will trigger it to wither and falloff
    the tree without injury.

Who cares about the stupid ASG!!!!!! This is how Harvey got hurt dialing it up and throwing 100, and overthrowing when he hit Cano. Shortly thereafter he had forearm tightness and the dopey Mets kept pitching him. I don’t want any of the Mets pitchers near that game and so glad Familia didn’t make it.
