BaronLHP Darin Gorski has been named the Pacific Coast League’s Player of the Week for July 6-12.

Gorski, 27, combined to throw seven shutout innings with 11 strikeouts in two appearances, one start, for the Las Vegas 51’s last week. His seven wins are tied for the team lead this season.

Gorski joins Noah Syndergaard and Duane Below as the third 51s pitcher to receive the award in 2015.

Gorski has struggled for the most part this season with Las Vegas, going 7-6 with a 4.70 ERA in 18 appearances, 17 starts.

Manager Terry Collins has off and on named Gorski among the candidates who could see time in the big league bullpen, although he has never been promoted to the Mets in his professional career. He doesn’t have particularly compelling splits – he’s held left-handed hitters to a .256 average this season.
