Terry Collins and the Mets have outlined their rotation plan to open the second half of the season next Friday in St. Louis.
Noah Syndergaard will get the nod at 8:15 PM on Friday night at Busch Stadium. He will be followed by Jon Niese and Bartolo Colon, although he and Dan Warthen have yet to decide in what order they will pitch in next week.
It’s clear the Mets are setting up their series in Washington to have Matt Harvey and Jacob deGrom pitch the first two games in some order, with Noah Syndergaard going on regular rest in their series finale. That means both Harvey and deGrom will pitch at some point in their series against the Dodgers as well.
Of course, they’re not going with their strongest hand in their series against St. Louis, who truly is the best team in baseball this year. Having said that, they’re aligned best for their intra-division matchup and setting things up so Harvey, deGrom and Syndergaard pitch with extra rest on July 27.
