The Mets nearly took another hit when Juan Lagares departed Sunday’s game with tightness in his right calf.
However, both Lagares and Terry Collins said Lagares is not injured – he merely had a cramp and it was gone following the game.
Lagares went 1-for-4 with a strikeout in his last at-bat. He felt the cramp in that last at-bat, he said after the game.
“I just felt like a cramp. But now I feel good,” Lagares explained after Sunday’s win. “I was just a little afraid. I had to tell them because I didn’t want it to get more than what it is. But, like I said, right now I feel good.”
There was no indication Lagares would miss any time due to this issue.
Of course, with the way minor injuries have become major ones over the course of the season, it’s worth watching on Friday when the club resumes their season in St. Louis.
