Michael Cuddyer has a bone bruise in his knee

Michael Cuddyer has been dealing with left knee soreness for the better part of two weeks which has limited his playing time during that span.

It had been said on this site Cuddyer’s problem is something both he and the club will have to manage, as it’s not something that’s going to go away during the season.

As it turns out Cuddyer has a bone bruise in his left knee, reports MLB.com’s Joe Trezza.

Cuddyer told Trezza his injury will not require surgery either during or after the season.

Still, Cuddyer will only be able to play as the pain allows him to. Hopefully the All-Star break allows this thing to heal a little bit for him so he can be out on the field more often than he has over the last couple of weeks.

Of course, it would also be helpful if Cuddyer could be more productive while on the field. He’s shown some positive signs in his last two games, so hopefully he’s breaking out of his slump now.

  1. Isn’t this the same exact thing the Mets told Beltran? That it was just a pain tolerance thing and it wouldn’t get worse? I’ve never heard a doctor say that anything that caused you pain wouldn’t get worse if you continued to do what was actually causing the pain. This sounds like more of the same from the Mets.
