Michael Cuddyer injured his left knee during last Tuesday’s game against the Cubs, and missed the following four games to allow his knee to heal.
Cuddyer played on Sunday in Los Angeles and on Monday in San Francisco, but is sitting for a second consecutive day as a result of his aching knee. As such, Cuddyer will be seen by doctors in New York when the club returns home after today’s game in San Francisco.
Last week, doctors informed both Cuddyer and the club a stint on the disabled list would not be required.
However, Cuddyer has not started in six of the last eight games, leaving the Mets bench short.
It’s not clear if Cuddyer will end up on the disabled list, although people close to the situation have said the injury is something he and the team will simply have to manage for the rest of the year, indicating there is a more significant problem in the joint.
Still, Collins insists Cuddyer is available to hit if needed on Wednesday, and is hopeful three consecutive days off will get him back in the lineup on Friday, assuming he does not go on the disabled list.

“Here, Ike, try this boot on for size…”. This is NOT a Cinderella Story! With nothing to shoot for, why should anyone( including Lagares, who just won’t stay down, but legitimately should!) go ALL OUT for a team that isn’t going anywhere? Why risk your health and ,in essence , your future in Baseball, for a club whose owners are oblivious to their needs to be a contender this year? Wait ’till next year, again- in the meantime, get healthy, get some scrubs some exposure, some Triple A ‘call ups’ a cup of coffee and if the Mets become SELLERS, maybe get traded to a contender and go to the Post Season with them? The rest of us real Met Fans—
can JUST WAIT TIL NEXT YEAR TOO!
⚾️Hope deGrom pitches a NO NO this afternoon!🍀

I wasn’t aware that there were no doctors in San Francisco for Cuddyer to see for the past three days.
