Rich MacLeodThe New York Mets will have at least one representative in the 2015 MLB All-Star Game as 27-year-old starting pitcher Jacob deGrom has been selected to the National League squad.

DeGrom, earning his first career All-Star selection, has been spectacular this season, with an 8-6 record and 2.30 ERA with 102 strikeouts and a 0.97 WHIP in 105.2 innings pitched.

Jake has been the clear-cut best pitcher for the Mets in the 2015 season, so it’s good to see him earn the acknowledgement from his peers. In addition to these accolades, deGrom also has the 9th lowest ERA of any starting pitcher in baseball this season.

A fellow teammate may join deGrom on the squad as well, as Mets closer Jeurys Familia will be part of the MLB All-Star Final 5 vote, where fans will get their chance to vote Familia into the final All-Star roster spot.

Familia has had a stellar year of his own for the Mets, as the former top pitching prospect has found his niche closing games this season. In 24 save opportunities this season, Familia has converted 22 saves–tied for 7th most in baseball–struck out 40 batters and posted a 1.16 ERA in 38.2 innings pitched this season.
