Mets vs DodgersHere is what I’m looking for from the Mets today:

Meet the Matz.

Matz is coming off a brilliant debut at home last week, but now he has a test facing the Dodgers in Los Angeles, a venue that’s very difficult to win in.

It will be interesting to see if there’s a hangover for Matz after last week’s amazing debut at Citi Field or whether or not he can come out and be as electrifying as he was last Sunday. What he’s facing is as good as it gets, and he has to be lockdown good in order to come away with a win since the offense is non-existent.

Michael Cuddyer is back.

His knee isn’t great, but it’s good enough for him to make his first start in four games today in Los Angeles. The Mets simply need him to start being better in the middle of their lineup, as the Mets need to find some way to be competitive offensively against the rest of the league. Cuddyer is a huge part of that, and a big reason why they haven’t hit for the bulk of the year.

Positive momentum.

A win today means a series win on the road, something they haven’t done that much of in 2015. It would also be against the Dodgers, one of the best teams in baseball and one of the best home teams in baseball at that. Heading to San Francisco would be a step in the right direction in what is really a make or break week in California.

But they have to simply find a way to get a few runs on the board in order to do that…
