Daniel Murphy is expected to rejoin the Mets sometime this weekend as he enters the final stages of his rehab from a strained quad muscle.
For the time being, he is on rehab assignment with the St. Lucie Mets, and he went 0-for-3 with a walk for Single-A St. Lucie tonight at Tradition Field.
Murphy played seven innings, all at third base.
Murphy has been on the disabled list since June 5.
Once he returns, it is expected he will be the club’s third baseman until when – or if – David Wright returns.
