Injury updates: Murphy closer, Wright, Blevins, Carlyle, Montero not close

BaronMets assistant GM John Ricco updated reporters on the status of Daniel MurphyDavid Wright, Jerry Blevins, Buddy Carlyle, and Rafael Montero on Tuesday in Milwaukee:

  • Murphy began running at the team’s minor league complex in Port St. Lucie. He will soon begin a rehab assignment, potentially in the next day or two. He has been on the disabled list since June 5 with a strained quad.
  • Wright still has not been cleared to begin baseball activities – he remains idle as he continues physical therapy exercises to try and strengthen his back and core. He has been on the disabled list since April 15 after injuring his hamstring and complications from spinal stenosis.
  • Blevins is continuing to rehab in Port St. Lucie, but he has not been cleared to throw as of yet. He has been on the disabled list since April 20 after fracturing his wrist.
  • Carlyle continues to rehab from back trouble which landed him on the disabled list in early May. He continues to experience pain in his hip and hamstring.
  • Montero is long tossing in Port St. Lucie, but has not yet returned to throwing off a mound. He has been on the disabled list since April 29 with a strained right rotator cuff.
