BaronDaniel Murphy is eligible to return from the disabled list on Saturday against the Braves.

However, he will get more time to ensure his strained quad is healthy and ready.

Sandy Alderson said on Wednesday in Toronto Murphy is expected to be activated from the disabled list on Tuesday when the Mets play the Brewers at Miller Park. When he does return, Murphy is expected to take over at third base until David Wright returns.

Murphy has not yet begun a rehab assignment, but has been participating in extended spring training games at the team’s minor league complex in Port St. Lucie.

Murphy has been on the disabled list since June 5.

  1. I’d rather take 100% healthy Murphy, then a half-injured one three days early any time….
