After allowing five runs in the eighth inning on Wednesday night in Toronto, Akeel Morris has been optioned to Double-A Binghamton.

The Mets purchased RHP Logan Verrett’s contract from Triple-A Las Vegas. He is on his way to Toronto and will be active for tomorrow’s series finale against the Blue Jays.

The Mets lost Verrett to the Orioles in the Rule 5 draft in December. The Orioles waived Verrett at the end of spring training, and was claimed by the Rangers. Verrett was then designated for assignment by Texas at the end of April, and was returned to the Mets and outrighted to Las Vegas.

Verrett, 25, is 2-0 with a 3.00 ERA in 11 appearances and four starts for Triple-A Las Vegas this season. He went 0-1 with a 6.00 ERA in four relief appearances for Texas before they cut him.

The Mets 40-man roster is now at 39.
